The last few months have been very busy on the work front for the Pest IT team. Our clients have undertaken some very large and elaborate bird installations, many with direct assistance on-site by Michael Harband and Peter McCarthy. It seems that the size and degree of difficulty grows with the levels of confidence of the installers.
During April our Dr Sali Bache and Peter McCarthy visited our suppliers during a trip through Europe and the USA. We have lots of news and details of new innovations from PestWest, Killgerm and Bird Barrier.
News in this issue includes more details on the FAOPMA Conference, our commercial workshop, an end of year clearance sale, marketing opportunities, Myna Magnet and even sporting news.

Commercial Pest Training |
Pest IT Commercial Pest Workshop
Pest IT will be conducting a commercial pest management workshop at the conclusion of the FAOPMA Conference in Brisbane. If you are heading to the conference, we suggest that it would be worthy of your attendance if you are looking to remain up to date with commercial and business issues.
Where else would you be able to see the range and caliber of our local and international speakers in one afternoon workshop? Concentrating on commercial pest related issues, the workshop focuses on areas not generally covered by the conference. Attendees will receive a folder containing various training DVDs, CDs, technical manuals and product catalogues. PestCert CPD points will be on offer for attendees.
Topics will include bird management and new innovations and techniques for vector control, ULV chemical applications and fly management. We hope to see you there.

FAOPMAustralia 2006 |
FAOPMAustralia 2006 now taking shape
If you haven’t heard, the FAOPMA conference to be held in Brisbane is shaping up to be the must attend event for the year. Pest IT and our valued suppliers are displaying a massive 12m booth. Here you will see many of the new items from the PestWest, Killgerm and Bird Barrier ranges for 2006. Our booth will also be our official launch for Myna Magnet, as well as some very innovative new products for vector management.
Dr Sali Bache is one of the first speakers on the program, discussing the very serious potential issue of Avian Influenza. The implications of this disease to the Australian pest management industry are significant and something we all need to be aware of.
All in all, it will be a professional and informative conference and we hope to see you there.

Marketing Opportunity |
Personalised branding of rodent boxes and insect monitors
Some of our clients are now using personalised branding to improve their brand awareness and customer contact. If every time a client opens a cupboard and sees your logo on a mouse box or an insect trap, you will always be “front of mind” in their thoughts. It’s the thinking mans fridge magnet - a practical, long lived and inexpensive way of presenting your brand.
Check out the quality of the branding below. It looks outstanding on a white mouse box or insect station. The white is clean and clinical and ideal for all indoor domestic and commercial situations.

AF Mouse Box - white with red branding

AF Mouse Boxes in assorted colours and brands
AF Insect Monitor - white with red branding
Even better – its FREE. We will pay for the printing plate and the artwork costs. All you need to do is order in lots of 500, its that simple. There are lead times to consider, so we look forward to getting this organised for you.
In the last issue of In Touch the featured marketing opportunity was the Bird Barrier and PestWest postcards. There are still thousands available, so please let us know if we can personalise these flyers with your next order.

From the Sports Desk |
Yes, the sports desk. Recently Australia played the USA in Paddle Tennis – the game played on a half tennis court that originated in Venice Beach California. Australia’s representative Peter McCarthy continued the annual battle with USA’s Cameron Riddle (Bird Barrier). Needless to say, Australia triumphed 6-4, 6-3, 6-4 in an epic three sets. Two old wannabe athletes sweated it out in the California sun. Expect a price rise from Bird Barrier!

In The News |
Here is an interesting PCO survey result from the USA regarding revenues from bird control. The survey was released in the March 2006 edition of Pest Control Magazines “Buzz On-Line”.

While not as substantial, our survey of Australian pest managers indicates a similar figure. Given that the Australian sector of the rapidly growing bird control market has limited competition and is both specialised and profitable, it surprises us that more companies are not getting involved. Feel free to call us to see if we can assist with product specifications and training as well as business and marketing tools to help you in bird management.

The AF Rat Box asks the question |
Are you getting the most out of your rodent management program?
Are you relying too heavily on rodenticides as your only form of rodent control?
If so, you may consider the AF Rat Box:
In addition to using all forms of rodenticides (blocks, grain, paste and liquid), you can also use glueboards and snap traps for a non-chemical approach. This is ideal for food processing, HACCP, AIB (American Institute of Bakers) and certified organic facilities.

You can also include a liquid baiting option for those dry goods and stored grains areas where food preferences are difficult to overcome. The full list of accessories and fixing devices for the AF range is impressive. Please let us know if we can help you upscale your efforts in rodent management.
