By law food that is sold must be wholesome and free from contamination. Every operator in the food industry is required to demonstrate ‘due diligence’ that they have taken every precaution against this from flying insect pests.
These pests are highly mobile and make no distinction between food prepared for our consumption and any other surface that they land on, walk over, defecate on or eat.
Many insect species have particularly unsavoury habits and therefore represent a high contamination risk to our food. With this in mind, fly control becomes more than just hanging any unit where it can be seen. Its effectiveness, according to type and siting, has a real bearing on how much protection you and your customers receive.
PROFESSIONAL LIGHT TRAPS
PestWest Professional Light Traps are high quality all metal units combining advanced glue board technology with slim-line designs. The slim-line designs enable glue boards to be placed closer to the UV tubes improving catch rates, whilst Pest West Reflectobakt® sleeves shield the board from the drying effect of the UV tubes.
With a PestWest sticky trap the insects are held fast to the board, ensuring that there is no danger of insects being ejected or blown out of the unit and allowing units to be placed closer to sensitive areas. Shatter-proof lamps are fitted standard and are a must for all food preparation areas in case of lamp breakage.
Professional Light Traps do not have an electric killing grid making them silent, discreet and hygienic whilst catching all sizes of insects including smaller species such as Fermentation Flies. With PestWest Professional Light Traps high quality control is supported with years of expertise giving you the most effective and efficient units.

Quantum BL Tubes
PestWest manufactures units using only high quality parts for long life and reliability. All PestWest units feature Quantum BL shatterproof tubes (except SunDew Fly Lite and Titan Alpha); these have been chosen for a reason.
PestWest Quantum BL tubes peak at a wavelength of 365 nanometers and are optimised to concentrate more of the UV output in the band most attractive to flying insects. Making the tubes 100% more effective and 40% more powerful than standard UV Tubes.
Using fly control products which are fitted with Quantum BL shatter resistant tubes with Teflon® G fluoropolymer coating as standard, or as replacements provides the easiest and safest solution for significantly reducing the risks of contamination from glass breakages.

PestWest Glueboards |
The effectiveness of the PestWest professional insect light traps are greatly increased due to two main features:
- Universal PestWest glue boards offer some of the largest catch surface areas in the marketplace, enabling a greater catch per board whilst combining the versatility of a board that can be easily adjusted to fit the desired system
- The glue boards are positioned so that they sit closer to the UV tube than other models, providing a more rapid catch
- PestWest offers a full range of adhesive boards for its Chameleon range of glue traps, including a black board to efficiently conceal the catch.
- Grey grid matrix boards are available as an option, for easy insect counting and monitoring. Boards can be retained to provide an accurate record
